The beginning...

Welcome to my first blog post!  I'm so happy you stopped by and checked it out!  I think that this will be a better way than checking your email :)

I haven't emailed the past few days because we were trying to figure out what was going on with Sweet Baby K... she's been a loud breather since birth, but recently Peter and I had noticed that when she was breathing the hollow of her throat and the spot right above her ribs would get sucked way far in every time she breathed.  And, Kayla had also started throwing up.  A lot.  So, off to the doctor we went, and he gave us a referral to a pediatric Ear Nose and Throat doctor.  After getting scoped (through the nose... poor thing), he diagnosed it as laryngomalacia along with some acid reflux.  So, Kayla and her daddy are on the same acid reflux medication.  Hopefully that will help her hurt less and eat more.  We'll continue to see the doctor to make sure she's making good progress with the laryngomalacia, but were warned that it will get worse before it gets better (meaning louder) but it should be much better by 24 months.  We have her two month (TWO MONTH!?!?!) appointment on Wednesday, so we'll be able to see if she's gaining weight and everything...

Also, Peter finally made Jason's surgery appointment - February 16th.  I'm happy it's scheduled (finally), and it's 12 days before I go back to work, so I'll be able to be home for the recovery.

On to food... I've been doing ok.  I admit that I ate a bag of gummi bears (better than the king sized reeses that I had my eye on), and that I enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Corner Bakery with Rebecca on Wednesday... but on Monday the ever faithful wii told me I had lost 2.4lb.  Yay!  My Jason pre-pregnancy pants are ALMOST fitting... but I still have a month and a half before I have to really worry about that.

Peter made that yummy salad dressing again (1/3 cup light sour cream, 2 tbsp light mayo, 1/4 cup chipolte salsa) and made a wonderful salad with chicken and black beans...  very good and quite low in points!

Last night was pierogi night, but tonight was a fabulous salmon salad with spinach.  Yummo!  I'm still trying to figure out the best way to post the recipe... tonight I'll add it in as a picture, but if you can't read it,  comment and ask for the Word document :)  It was incredibly simple to make, only made a broiler pan and 1 bowl dirty, and was very filling...  the presentation was all Peter.  It's such a joy to eat what he makes.

So... it's almost Friday, which means playdate with Maddie and Ike!  Tomorrow is dinner with John and Paulina, and hopefully Andro and Rachelle.  Andro introduced us to a fabulous restaurant with BBQ Pork Noodle Soup.  Last time I stole pieces of his pork.  This time I'm getting my own.  Next week is Peter's turn to pick the recipes... he's all logical and stuff and checks the pantry/fridge to see what we already have and what we can make out of it to lower our grocery bills.  That's why I get one week and he gets the next... he uses my left overs.  We'll see what he chooses for us.

Until next time, here's a picture of
Little Man checking to make sure Sweet Baby K is doing alright.
So sweet.
